Kirsten’s story
“As a child I hated going to the dentist. The twice-yearly visits were dreaded times of year and before the appointment I would start feeling nervous and faint. I did have a few fillings as a child, all done without local anaesthetic. This is what really created my fear of the dentist.
When I got into my late teens I had to tackle the problem. My front teeth were crooked, and there was only way to deal with it: braces. I had to bite the bullet!
This changed my perspective entirely. There was no drilling or any pain! I “just” had to have “train tracks”, which I didn’t mind as I could see the difference it made to my smile.
I went from hating my teeth during childhood, to suddenly falling in love with them and starting to smile with confidence. This experience made it an easy choice when I decided to go to university. With dentistry, I could combine science with the artistic vein, and my overall love of working with people. This is my real driving force!
I love what I do.
Each and everyone, with their own unique personality, and each case, big or small, is different. It is a true joy to see the transformation in people’s smiles and their dental experience. It is an honour to be part of a positive life-changing experience and I value very much the trust I am given by my clients.
It is deep-seated in my heart, that no-one should go through the same as I did as a child.
Hence, I want to ensure a positive and relaxing atmosphere for everyone when visiting the dentist.
On the social side, I love growing my own vegetables though I am pretty miffed about having to share with the slugs! I am part of a local community choir and when time permits, photography is one of my hobbies.
My biggest fan is Chilli, the family cat. To the family’s dismay, she is totally devoted to my calm and re-assuring nature and follows me around like a dog, even to the bathroom!”
